Argentine Airline Flybondi to Adopt NFT Technology for Ticket Issuance

NFTs have been embraced by more companies due to their perceived advantages and benefits. Flybondi (a low-cost Argentine airline) has announced that it will use blockchain technology in its operations and issue tickets as nonfungible tokens. This expands the customer’s options.

Here’s what we know: 

The solution, developed by blockchain tech development company Travelx, will allow customers to change users’ names, trade, transfer and sell tickets up to three days prior to a flight.

The alliance also initially introduced the possibility of purchasing these tickets using Binance Pay with stable coins, including USDC. However, Travelx announced that other stablecoins would be included to provide more possibilities to customers.

“Flybondi’s DNA is to give people the freedom to fly, and to achieve that, we have always embraced change, innovation, and technology,” said airline CEO Mauricio Sana. “Through this partnership with TravelX, we are once again leading the way in innovation and are excited to use blockchain technology to give our customers the greatest amount of freedom”, he said.

“We are very pleased to announce this partnership, which heralds a new era of flexibility and freedom for travelers,” said TravelX co-founder and CEO Juan Pablo Lafosse. He assured, “Flybondi has paved the way for a new era in the distribution and marketing of airline tickets in the form of NF Tickets, which we will soon see many other airlines follow.”

The inclusion of Web3 technology and NFTs in such operations will open up secondary markets for customers. Regarding the use of these new technologies, TravelX said that the move brings a new phase “where the travel industry and the new Web3 world come together to provide a more flexible experience for travelers while increasing revenue generates new sources, and there is a strong reduction in transaction costs for airlines.”
