Why is the 180th-ranked cryptocurrency asset suddenly making rounds among investors? Illuvium is an Ethereum-based non-fungible token (NFT) gaming project. Last week, it surprised crypto investors by surging 70 per cent, climbing from USD 61.81 on January 29, 2023, to USD 105, last week.
NFT and blockchain-based gaming are already the talk of the town, with fantasy gaming taking the centre stage. Illuvium is one such project that aims to create “open-world” fantasy games.
Simply put, the term ‘open-world’ refers to a gaming environment in which players can move around freely and achieve their targets with relative autonomy.
What may be the reason behind this 70 per cent surge? Only recently, the NFT gaming project announced a planned update for Illuvium: Overworld, an exploration game again, allowing users to move freely.
Illuvium took to its official Twitter account, announcing the plant physics-based update –
“Illuvium: Overworld will soon feature fully optimised plant physics, influenced not just by your movement but also by wind!
This will add new layers to the traversal experience. If you’re clever, maybe you can use it to your advantage”
Currently however, this game is in the ‘private-beta’ format, allowing access only to limited players.
While outsiders may find Illuvium new and exciting, it is a relatively familiar territory for NFT enthusiasts. In fact, the alpha or pre-release version of Illuvium’s third game released around the start of 2023.
Illuvium’s third game, otherwise known as ‘Illuvium Zero’ is a mobile and desktop-integrated game centred around land development. Last week, the latest version of this game was released, countering some existing bugs.
Clearly, the world of NFT-based fantasy gaming is rapidly expanding. In fact, it is likely to emerge as a top trend in the blockchain universe.

Interestingly, Illuvium is also looking to expand its scope beyond gaming by announcing its latest NFT pictures collection called Illuvium Beyond – Illuvitars NFT Collection. This newest venture was announced again, via Illuvium’s Twitter account –

Scheduled for launch in March 2023, Illuvium is going to partner with Binance’s ChainLink and ImmutableX, as a scaling-solution.
