Conflux Network, the first regulatory-compliant public blockchain in China, and China Telecom, a global communications network, have unveiled the world’s first blockchain SIM (BSIM) card. The launch happened at the Xuhui District West Bank Artificial Intelligence Center. This remarks the first ever on-chain interaction between the collaborators.

Here’s what we know:

China Telecom is the country’s second-largest wireless carrier and has amassed over 390 million mobile subscribers. While Conflux is the only regulatory-compliant public blockchain in China whose purpose is to connect decentralized economies across borders.

The BSIM card is incorporated into the mobile for user identification over blockchain technology. The fully-compatible nature enables both Android and iOS systems. Additionally, this suffices storage more than 20 times compared to the existing SIM cards.

This is termed to be a game-changing one with effective and safe Web3 user terminal solutions. They include the storage of public and private keys in the card empowered with generation. This has enabled risk prevention of any malware attacks with any target. Furthermore, this would elaborate encrypted storage and key recovery functions, etc.

The Co-founder and CTO of Conflux Network, Dr. Wu Ming said “From now on, all mobile communication users can obtain a more secure digital identity through mobile terminals and access Web3 and the metaverse with minimal technical barriers.”

According to Li Anmin, deputy dean of the Research Institute at China Telecom Group, BSIM card is just the beginning, as they explore various application scenarios and supplementary products by integrating blockchain technology with modern communication advancements.

The BSIM card will be used in Hong Kong before China allows it elsewhere.
