Hotel by Wassies is a pop-up hotel that runs from March 2023 to September 2023 and is listed on various hotel booking sites. Themed after the popular ‘Wassie by Wassies’ NFT collection is located at 5 Hongkong Street in Singapore – with rooms, accessories, a cafe, and amenities themed after frog-like creatures.

Here’s what we know:

The six-floor hotel consists of 55 rooms, 49 rooms being Wassie-themed and six rooms featuring ‘Wassies & Friends’ – CryptoPunks, Pudgy Penguins, Azukis, Nouns, Squiggles, and the Kong Collective.

The move is an experiment in using the Wassie IP across different verticals, said the team. NFT holders are entitled to a free coffee daily from a Wassie-themed café, discounted beverages, and 20% off room bookings, starting at $112 per night.

The Wassies is a fictional comic created by the pseudonymous Crypto Twitter account inversebrah, known for documenting memes and jokes around the crypto community.

The distinct slang used by Inversebrah and other self-styled Wassie accounts has contributed significantly to the online crypto culture, with words like “wen,” “gud,” and “koin” being quickly adopted by the community.

“Hotel by Wassies is a [small] Wassie step in bringing crypto culture into the real world, as we continue to look for ways to deploy the byWassies brand IP in all shapes and forms,” a regional Twitter account of the Wassie collection said.

As the Wassie-themed hotel opens its doors to guests, the surge in the floor prices of the Wassie NFT collection highlights the potential for real-world events and collaborations to drive the value of NFTs. It will be interesting to see whether this trend continues and other NFT collections will follow suit.
