The NFT market remains attractive despite suffering a brutal meltdown this year. Mercedes Benz is the latest top brand to showcase interest in investing more in the NFT market. The automotive brand has filed a trademark application related to NFT and Metaverse.

Here’s what we know:

In a December 19 Tweet, Mike Kondoudis, the intellectual property attorney, confirmed that Mercedes Benz filed a trademark application related to NFT and Metaverse with United States Patents and Trademark office on December 14.

Marcedes-Benz has filed a trademark application for its “Mercedes Benz,” “Mercedes,” “S-Class,” “G-Class,” and “Maybach” for metaverse and NFT purposes.

According to data submitted, the automotive brand anticipates launching Virtual goods, including animal furs, carpets, rugs and mats, luggage, wallets, clothing, footwear, headwear, glasses, sunglasses, jewelry, smartwatches, sporting articles and equipment, and auctioning them in the virtual worlds.

Moreover, Mercedes Benz intends to launch a non-fungible tokens collection and market platform for its virtual goods. It also plans to offer crypto trading and financial services, including providing a digital currency for its online community members via a global computer network.

It’s not the first time Mercedes Benz would invest in the NFT industry. Earlier this year, luxury and automotive brands teamed up with Art2People, a digital art platform featuring international artists from the NFT space, to create a new NFT collection.

At the time, the NFT collection featured digital artworks from popular artists, including Roger Kilimanjaro, Antoni Tudisco, Klarens, Charlotte Taylor, Anthony Authie, and Baugasm, each interpreting Mercedes Benz G-Class brand using different digital mediums.

Elsewhere, Mercedes Benz’s rival luxury automotive brand BMW also recently filed trademark applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. According to data submitted, BMW plans to launch a collection of virtual vehicles in the metaverse.
