Kweichow Moutai has launched a digital collectibles collection of 113,960 non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The Chinese liquor giant said the collectibles would give holders an exclusive opportunity to purchase limited-edition liquor in the real world.

Here’s what we know

Moutai’s NFT collection is worth 139 million yuan, which is more than $20 million in value. Furthermore, the NFT-linked bottles can be bought for yuan 2,899, which is $427 for 500 ml, and 569 yuan for 100 ml.

A digital replica of Moutai’s winery is available on the Xunfeng Digital World mobile app; after completing in-game tasks, the owners can get the rights to purchase liquor for fiat by earning the NFTs.

Users can dress in different virtual outfits, explore the historic birthplace of Moutai — with its ancient distilleries reconstructed using digital technology — and collect digital postcards. In-game tokens are called “fortune feathers” (瑞羽). Those registering on the platform before certain cut-off dates also receive a commemorative badge.

Xunfeng Digital World opened its doors on January 1st, 2023. By the end of the month, the mobile application had over 2.4 million registered users. In the smartphone application, there is a virtual vineyard, and players can earn NFTs that can be used to buy alcohol using fiat currency.

Apart from Moutai, alcohol companies like Jinsha Gujiu, Jiangxiaobai, Yangjiu, etc., have also dipped their toes in the booming NFT market.
