Nike, the popular footwear brand, is introducing its first NFT drop on its. Swoosh Web3 platform several months after its launch.

The collection, called Our Force 1 (OF1), is made up of Polygon virtual sneaker NFTs that pay homage to the iconic Nike Air Force 1 shoe from 41 years ago.

The drop includes two types of boxes: Classic Remix, which features virtual sneakers based on Air Force 1 shoes released between 1982 and 2006, and New Wave, which showcase pairs designed in 2007 and beyond.

The Classic Remix boxes may contain several custom AF1s with a “nostalgic twist,” while the New Wave boxes will feature expressive AF1s with a “futuristic twist.”

All the virtual sneaker boxes will be sold for USD 19.82, commemorating the year the Air Force 1 was first introduced. Nike will not accept cryptocurrency payments for NFTs.

Old sole, new story.

There is no known limit to the number of Our Force 1 NFTs that will be made available for purchase. Nike will start airdropping virtual AF1 posters, which are required to unlock an OF1 box NFT to randomly selected .Swoosh members this week.

Those members will be able to start purchasing OF1 boxes on May 8th. On May 10th, the entire.Swoosh community will have access to purchase OF1 boxes.

Nike has reported that there are currently more than 330,000 members on the.Swoosh platform and anyone can join for free. The specific details regarding the virtual shoe designs that buyers will receive have not been disclosed. In February,

Nike announced that four virtual shoe designs were selected.Swoosh members would be featured in the OF1 drop. Nike has since collaborated with those community members to create the designs on the blockchain, and these fan-created designs will also be randomly distributed among both types of boxes.

“We are exploring new ways to tell stories and create relationships while removing the barriers and limitations of a physical product,” Ron Faris, GM of Nike Virtual Studios, said in a statement. “With more members choosing to express themselves across physical and digital worlds, .Swoosh is the marketplace of the future.”

Shortly, per Nike, the OF1 boxes will unlock additional utilities and benefits for holders, including access to exclusive physical products and experiences.
